Normalcy Goals

Each child’s needs are different. Each child’s experiences are unique. Each child also has different likes and dislikes. Some play football and others sing in the choir. However, every child should get to enjoy certain experiences, whether they are in the care of their parents or the state. We must:

  • Provide a “normal” life experience for youth.
  • Create emotionally and physically safe spaces for children and youth.
  • Empower caregivers to encourage youth to engage in extracurricular activities.
  • Provide children and youth services to help them deal with sexuality.
  • Respect children’s rights.
