Participating in an event at school is a normal childhood experience and may offer support for him around his identity and a sense of community. Painting faces will give Kevin a sense of accomplishment and it will allow him to take pride in his artistic abilities. At the same time, it is showing him he can participate in activities with the group he identifies with.
As stated earlier, children and youth should not be banned from participating in normalcy activities because social isolation can lead to mental health issues.
