Antipsychotics

Antipsychotics may be used to treat a number of conditions in children, including:

  • Psychosis
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Schizophrenia
  • Autism
  • Tourette's syndrome
  • Severe aggression

Antipsychotics are divided into two groups:

  • Atypical (or second generation) antipsychotics were first developed in 1994.
  • Typical (or first generation) antipsychotics were first developed in 1950.
