Common Trauma Responses

Traumatic reactions can include a variety of responses, including but not limited to:

  • Behavioral changes
  • Anxiety
  • Intense and ongoing emotional upset
  • Depression symptoms
  • Difficulties with self-regulation (managing emotions and needs)
  • Problems relating to others
  • Problems forming attachments with others
  • Regression or loss of previously acquired skills
  • Attention and academic difficulties
  • Nightmares
  • Difficulty sleeping and eating
  • Physical symptoms, such as aches and pains
