What Are the Volunteer Requirements?

Volunteers are required to complete an online volunteer application, which includes:

  • Sign a confidentiality agreement.
  • Consent to a background and criminal history check.

DFPS will do a background and or criminal history check on all volunteers who work directly with clients (direct-service roles) or who have access to online client information and or confidential information.

If a volunteer will be transporting parents, older adults, or those with disabilities as part of his or her volunteer duties, DFPS will request driving records from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
