What Can We Do?

Have Awareness of Yourself

Sometimes adult coping skills are positive, and sometimes they are negative. When you observe negative coping skills, think about the possible root causes of those behaviors and actions.

Adults, especially those with trauma history, may also have difficulty regulating their behaviors and needs, especially in a stressful child welfare case.

Remember: On its own, being involved in a child welfare case may be a traumatic experience for children, youth, parents, and families.
