Requirements to Transport Clients

Unless officially approved by DFPS, volunteers are not allowed to transport parents, older adults, and people with disabilities. If you are interested in such a role, fill out the Volunteer Transportation Acknowledgment form and contact your placement supervisor.

If you are approved to transport parents, older adults, and people with disabilities you must have:

  • A valid driver's license, inspection sticker, and license plate.
  • Seat belts and child safety seats according to Texas law.
  • Proper insurance for personal liability and property damage, as indicated on the Volunteer Transportation Acknowledgment form.
