View difficult behaviors through a trauma-informed lens.

For example, ask yourself or the child:

  • What is really going on behind the behavior?
  • What is the child feeling?
  • Does the child need food, rest, or exercise?

Observe how a child’s difficult behaviors is making you feel and ask yourself:

  • How is this making me feel?
  • Do I need to calm myself before I can respond?
