Erica Bañuelos is the associate commissioner for Child Protective Services (CPS) at the Department of Family and Protective Services. Her career with CPS began in 1997, when she was hired as a caseworker. She has worked as a supervisor, program director, program administrator, regional director, and CPS director of field. She has worked in many areas of CPS, including Investigations, Family-Based Safety Services, and Adoption and Conservatorship.
Bañuelos graduated from Our Lady of the Lake University with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services. In 2002, she returned to school and earned a master’s degree in social work. She is also a licensed child care administrator. Her extensive experience and education speak to her long-standing commitment to advocating for children and their families.
