DFPS has contracted with four new providers for Supervised Independent Living (SIL) placements for young adults in extended foster care, effective 9/1/14:

Region 6 (Houston Area):

  • DePelchin Children's Center: SIL Settings offered:  Non  College Dorm on their administrative campus and Apartments in southwest Houston
  • WREM Literacy Group, Inc.:  SIL Setting offered:  Shared Housing  (a couple of blocks from Prairie View University)

Region 7 (Austin Area):  

  • Austin Children's Shelter:  SIL Settings offered:  Non  College Dorm on their administrative campus and Apartments in Austin
  • Lutheran Social Services of the South:  SIL Setting offered:  Apartments in Austin

With the Single Source Continuum Contractors (SSCC) contract ending in Region 2, DFPS took over contracting directly with these 2 providers for SIL placements, effective 8/18/14:

  • Phased IN: SIL Setting offered:  Non-college dorm for males (in Wichita Falls)
  • Baptist Child and Family Services (BCFS):  SIL Setting offered:  Shared Housing for males (in Abilene)
