The Texas Family and Protective Services Council was created during the 85th Texas Legislative Session in 2017 as part of House Bill 5, the legislation that established the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) as an agency separate from the Health and Human Services Commission.
The Family and Protective Services Council voted on and approved their bylaws at the February 14, 2020 council meeting.

Public Testimony
In person public testimony will be permitted during the DFPS Council Meeting. If you would like to give public testimony at the council meeting in person, please complete the register to appear before the Council. Public testimony is limited to three minutes per person. If you would like to submit written comments, email them to the DFPS Council mailbox.
