Handbook Revision, September 1, 2020
Methods of Initiation and Notification to Providers (PATS 12872)
This revision clarifies the difference between investigation initiation and making the first contact with alleged victims. Policy previously conflated these two requirements because they both need to be met within the first 24 or 72 hours of an investigation.
This revision also updates policy to allow for the release of investigation findings to providers of the operations where the investigations took place. Because of Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) requirements, this release of findings only applies to residential care operations.
