Handbook Revision, April 1, 2022
Investigations Requiring Case Assistance (PATS 13744)
This update clarifies policy about when investigations require assistance from the Special Investigations (SI) division, or when cases requiring secondary approval are submitted to CCI’s Complex Investigations Division (CID).
This revision also removes the requirement to automatically add a facility’s administrator as an alleged perpetrator (AP) during a fatality investigation. Fatality investigations have additional monitoring by CCI State Office management, SI, and CID. CCI determines during the course of the fatality investigation whether to add the administrator as an AP, rather than automatically adding before the investigation has begun.
