Child Protective Services
Handbook Revision, October 2014
This revision of the Child Protective Services Handbook was published on October 1, 2014. Summaries of new or revised items are provided below.
Using Special Investigators for UTC Cases (PATS 6907)
The following items are revised to explain that, if a family cannot be located to begin an investigation or the family moves and cannot be located before the investigation is complete, the caseworker does not close the case as Unable to Complete – Family Moved/Cannot Locate until a special investigator is assigned and all means of finding the family have been exhausted.
The following items related to the Child Safety Check Alert List are revised for consistency. See:
2413.1 When a Family Has Moved or Cannot Be Located
2413.8 The Child Safety Check Alert List
2413.81 When to Place a Child on the Child Safety Check Alert List
2413.82 The Role of Law Enforcement and the Child Safety Check Alert List
2413.83 How to Place a Family Child on the Child Safety Check Alert List
CPS staff were informed about this policy with the issuance of PSA 14-058 on March 3, 2014.
