Documents that establish a U.S. place of birth or in some way indicate U.S. citizenship are acceptable. Below are examples of such documents:

The caseworker must contact a regional attorney to determine whether this option can be used in the case-specific situation. Affidavits are only to be used as a last resort if the individual is unable to provide any other documentary evidence of citizenship. |
