This revision of the Statewide Intake Policy and Procedures Handbook was published on September 3, 2024. Summaries of new or revised items are provided below.

This handbook revision updates the phrase "under the jurisdiction of HHS CII" to instead say "under the jurisdiction of HHS." Statements indicating referrals made to HHS CII remain as is.

SWI Assessments Involving Baby Moses, Child Death, Other States, and Child-Specific Contracts (PATS 14227)

This policy revision updates SWI’s list of entities classified as Designated Emergency Infant Care (DEIC) providers and general requirements for “Baby Moses” intakes. Additional revisions include assessment clarification for reports involving child deaths, incidents occurring out of state or involving people who live out of state, requests for courtesy interviews or home visits, and jurisdiction of incidents involving child-specific contracts.

This handbook revision does the following:

  • Clarifies that the Resource section in IMPACT does not need to be deleted for information and referral reports.
  • Updates language to clarify age-related jurisdiction for Day Care Investigations.
