Handbook Revision, September 2023
This revision of the DFPS Travel Claims and Services Handbook was published on September 1, 2023. Summaries of new or revised items are provided below.
Travel Miles, Airfare, Extra Seat Ticket, and Rental Cars (PATS 13985)
This handbook revision makes various updates to policy, including the following:
- Clarifies the fifty-mile limit for lodging and meal reimbursement.
- Removes Southwest Airlines Business Travel (SWABIZ) portal information.
- Adds information about a contracted travel agency.
- Removes Avis as a car rental option.

Travel Reimbursement (PATS 14015)
Due to legislative changes, the following two policies were updated:
- Section 2312 – In-state meal costs increasing for FY 24.
- Section 2322 – New provision in the General Appropriations Act (GAA), Article IX, Section 6.12, that requires state agencies to report state-funded travel to Washington D.C.
